Decorations for nightlight

These night lights out now are in such an aray. Some sing to your child others just sit there and do nothing except give light. So what would be in your child best interest to put them to sleep and don't forget waking up. My choice was a simple but, timeless black light I put baby hand prints and feet prints in matching colors for his comfortor. This light well for him and well as myself. As he has grow over the years the night light has been put to use for his consolation of plantes. This is also a highlight for a castle with knights, princes, prince etc... I still belive in putting a little one to sleep with some music but, something with some inspriation. Mozart ect...
As he's grown so has his music now he sings, very happy.

Mentor

How often in a day do you take the time to mentor someone. Maybe your a mentor and don't even know it. What are some of the strongest influences in your life? As a child many choose their teachers, or a character which we know not. Did you know that 40% of our kids spend their time alone, unattended without a mentor. My point is where do you get most of your mentoring? Boss, Books, TV, or Olympic...thier are many sources for you to become a better mentor if your not one already.

In Greek mythology, Mentor (Greek: Μέντωρ / Méntōr; gen.: Μέντορος)
The first recorded modern usage of the term can be traced to a 1699 book entitled "Les Aventures de Telemaque", by the French writer François Fénelon[3] In the book the lead character is that of Mentor. This book was very popular during the 18th century and the modern application of the term can be traced to this publication.[3]

This is the source of the modern use of the word mentor: a trusted friend, counselor or teacher, usually a more experienced person. Some professions have "mentoring programs" in which newcomers are paired with more experienced people, who advise them and serve as examples as they advance. Schools sometimes offer mentoring programs to new students, or students having difficulties.

Today mentors provide expertise to less experienced individuals to help them advance their careers, enhance their education, and build their networks. In many different arenas people have benefited from being part of a mentoring relationship, including:

Authors — H.P. Lovecraft mentored Robert Bloch, Clark Ashton Smith, and Robert E. Howard
Business people — Freddie Laker mentored Richard Branson
Politicians — Aristotle mentored Alexander the Great

Delegation of Authority

While reading this week I found a topic I feel should be elaborated on. Decision making skills and how do we guide leaders, or for that much mentor good leaders? So I decided to do some research on the topic.
1. Work to each person's strengths.
2. Avoid bad relationship assignments
3. Make sure the person you are tapping on the shoulder can handle their new assignments.
4. Avoid favoritism or singling out individuals
5. Delegate with care.

Differences between Authority and Responsibility
Authority Responsibility
a. It is the legal right of a person or a superior to command his subordinates.
b.It is the obligation of subordinate to perform the work assigned to him.
a. Authority is attached to the position of a superior in concern.
b. Responsibility arises out of superior-subordinate relationship in which subordinate agrees to carry out duty given to him.
a. Authority can be delegated by a superior to a subordinate
b. Responsibility cannot be shifted and is absolute
a. It flows from top to bottom.
b. It flows from bottom to top.

Why delegate authority?

It is impossible for a manager in a huge company to deal with everything. So, if you delegate authority, you break your work into several peaces hire people and let them manage instead of you. You are still responsible for your work but let others somehow help you. For example, you are a top manager and are responsible for several departments (marketing, R&D, HR, etc) you hire Marketing manager for example and you delegate authority.

Do you have the Type A Personality?

While filling out a profile like so, many sites require of us to do. I decided to ask some close friends; how would you describe me? like what type of person
smart, funny???? and what did you notice about me when you meet me? One told me that I was a Type A and intelligent. OK, I googled it and saw many errors in my life such as; impatient, workaholics, and Social Isolation.

Here's a fun 5 minute test to check yourself Click Here

Here's what it said about me;
You have many of the characteristics of a Type A Personality. Type A Personality is characterized by two main factors, Achievement Striving and Impatience-Irritability. Type A persons tend to measure their success in terms of how many or how much of everything they acquire. They are generally dissatisfied with the world, including themselves. They are quite rigid in thought and conduct and tend to distrust others. In addition, they experience difficulty expressing their emotions, are generally very critical of themselves and others, and are of increased vulnerability to the physical and emotional effects of stress. Persons displaying Type A behaviors do not know how and when to relax. They feel impatient with the pace of most events. They strive to do too much at once and others often get tense and feel threatened in their presence.

In short Type A has; Competitiveness and Strong Achievement-Orientation

National School Success Month

Celebrate by brushing up for;
National School Success Month-Effective Study skills are about more than understanding.

Effective study skills must be practiced in order for you to improve. It is not enough to simply "think about" studying; you have to actually do it, and in the process use information from what you do to get better. This is the central idea of this page. All that follows depends on this single concept. There is a saying that goes like this: "Practice doesn't make perfect; perfect practice makes perfect." If you want to be an achiever, take this saying to heart. For more tips click hereLast year I was asked to seek a doctor for my son to aid him in school studies. My response was "do you teach the children how to study" I will not put my son on prescription drugs so, I started my research and found books to enlighten me in changing some things around home. Such as spending one on one time with him more so, he gains the valuable time on focus. With criteria higher that a few decades ago kids need to solve problems correctly eg- stress, denial etc...Another, was to incorporate alkaline water into his diet to aid with memory and concentration. As a parent I feel that it my job to find the answers or the root of the problem. That's guidance.

Homeowners Who Just Leave the Home Vacant

Bail Out is what I want. Facing foreclosure sure a bail out is what most hope for. Homeowners who just leave the home and hope someone else will take care of the headache is just as bad as an EOC. People leaving their homes and just getting on with life has been the choice of many making their life easier while the job market is well (it's been better) in a depression.

While many home owners are attempting to leaving their home and / or going bankrupt on the short term plan this is a quick fix and a long term problem. In a consumer frame of mind we live in a here and now where, many live like - we want it we want it now and super size it. Sounds childish but, its true for almost all areas of our life.

While companies and investors market too many homeowners in pre-foreclosure there's a hug hand full of letters that come back with a Vacant stamped on them. Denial is a problem and just quitting is a great way to solve an addiction but, not suggested for your financial situation.

Did you know that denial is the number one reason many citizens are diagnosis with some type of mental problem? Sure if you solve your problem the wrong way is it going to bite you in the ass sooner or later. There is a way to solve problems go read a book or call someone; do your due diligence. Divorce, death, illness, loss of job.

Options are accessible and many times free so, why not take advantage of the opportunity. Making a plan and sticking to it but, make a plan that is obtainable. Take a good look at your self first are you disciplined and frugal. Hopefully you're not one who is EOC (economic outpatient care) that's money from their parents in the form of trusts, gifts, etc...

7 Movies to Motivate You

7 Movies to Motivate You
When it comes to inducing instant, effective inspiration for about $4 per rental, movies are king. Go on, say you weren't ready to slap on the gloves and get in the ring after watching Rocky -- liar.

Given their powers of motivation, movies might be just what the doctor ordered if you're starting to feel your momentum slow down at the office, or your job search seems like it's going nowhere. Try one of these movies to rev you up and get you back in the saddle.

Norma Rae

A small-town southern girl unionizes factory workers against dangerous and callous management in a movie that would make Jimmy Hoffa weep with admiration (wherever he is). Based on real events in which a little girl takes on the big, nasty establishment, this one ends in triumph for the downtrodden worker.

A Civil Action

A lawyer played by John Travolta wages a seemingly hopeless battle for justice against a company suspected of poisoning a town's water supply, losing his shirt, office and coworkers in his blind obsession with winning the case. A lawyer who shrugs off money in the interest of winning a case for its moral implications? Now that's inspiring.

Gung Ho

After a Japanese firm buys the car manufacturer he works for, a young Michael Keaton has to keep his faithful workers happy under the demands of new management. Immersed in allegory about work and fulfillment, this one is all about jobs: keeping vs. losing them, white collar vs. blue collar and American vs. foreign work ethic. See it to restore your faith in the idea that you can balance a strenuous career, life and family.

Tommy Boy

A Chris Farley character squeezed into a business suit and asked not to screw up something hugely important? Are you kidding? Though he seems destined for failure when forced to become a salesman in a serious hurry to save his dad's business, the blundering Tommy Boy proves that anyone can find success with heart and ingenuity, even against a sinister Dan Akroyd.

The Secret of My Success

In the lighthearted romance, everything-will-turnout-all-right category, this film stars a "Family Ties"-esque Michael J. Fox in the story of a mailroom worker who poses as a top-level exec at a titanic corporation to woo one of the real executives. Cheesy, contrived, outlandish and oh-so-nostalgically '80s, it's still hard not to be charmed when Fox takes down the greedy bad guys.

Stand and Deliver

A true story of persistence and achievement in the face of unrelenting apathy and difficulty, this one pits a resilient math teacher against a troupe of underprivileged high schoolers hell-bent on the idea that school is pointless. Transforming his students from gang members and dropouts to high-level calculus aces, Edward James Olmos portrays an inspiring figure for teachers facing stereotypes and kids who only appear to fit them.

Erin Brockovich

Like some dressed-down Mother Teresa with a license to swear, the heroine of this based-on-real-events movie is a lawyer's assistant unafraid to use her sassy personality and, um, other assets to cut through the typical bull of legalese and win millions for the wronged. Not your typical single-mom-versus-a-colossal-energy-conglomerate flick, but a good one.

And if you're lacking the motivation to get motivated, these films could help you feel better about your idleness.

Office Space
Clockwatchers
Fight Club
9 to 5
Working Girl

These movies work for me but, what do you watch that has a great motivation with you?

Celebrate the Things in Your Life that Are Better Than Ever

What in your life is better than ever? What an ironic post to include from TwitterMoms and Dove gofresh! How are you better than ever is the recent contest that I couldn't resist as there are so many facets to that question. I can think of many ways that I'm better and can contribute it to experience.

1. I am better today at being more aware of how I speak and treat others the way they want to be treated than in more recent years past. I still catch myself and do make corrections as needed.
2. I am better today for the education that I have acquired for the betterment of my family. For that I am eternally grateful for asking for wisdom, knowledge and understanding with out them I would not have past this way.
3. I am better today also for the experiences that I utilize my life's problems and achievements to share with others. For the ups and downs in life teach us the lessons we learn through perseverance. I've learned to over come many obstacles and seen some of my best work because of these trails I've endured. We only become better by sharing our very best when all else fails.
4. I also am better by the opportunities in helping others over come things in life. I do not volunteer as much as I use to but, now I have workshops that I ask donations for the education I give. For by others do we have a chance to grow and enhance our own life's by the presents of others.
5. Lastly, I am better today by the care I give myself my body as a whole; I cleanse internally and use good products for my body, my mind; I read many books and put these books into practical use in my life and my spirit; I study the Bible and use subliminal messages to improve my thinking, body, and attitude towards further development in life. My photos show how little changes make a difference I take very good care myself. For I do what is needed to be able to live for as long as the good Lord will have me. I would like to see my family grow and to experience life as it is meant to be.

Now
Then

I'm sure there are many, many more ways that I am better now than I have ever been. How about you? Join in the discussion back at TwitterMoms here. You can also participate in a fun photo contest! Dove® gofresh™ is also sponsoring a Facebook photo contest!

Personality Plus

Realizing our strengths and weaknesses is the mature thing to do. But, for those who do not and stay (young)immature are missing out on the best part of life. Knowledge is power and getting to know your self and understand others is by far much better than just putting up with say your boss/co-worker.

People get along very well when we look at the good things about each other but, when we start to notice the less appealing parts of their personality trouble starts.

A boss is very bossy and impatient he usually makes people feel very stressed and the reaction is they work harder. That's good right? A co-worker talks way too much and is not organized. The life of the party Right?
Both parties need to work on their personalities to become easier to get along with. The boss works on giving people space and listens more. The co-worker finds out that the world still functions without constant talking and gets organized.

Florence Littauer has written a great book that I recommend reading.

Listening with Empathy

Empathy is the heart of a person who is able to be genuine to others. While this may be difficult for some it is a necessity for most communication in our life.

Meeting some one for the first time you realize that they are genuine or either distracted, nervous, pushy, or down right not it touch with reality.

Went to the store and was approached by the sales woman and found her to be genuine and was not trying to sell us something. Other times I found that she really listened to what my needs were and made herself available to serve me the best way she could. But, I have found one or two that are just down right finding ways to try to make me buy their product. Well, I didn't like it and I never shopped there again.

Why is this? Well, they may have forgotten to get in touch with themselves. Having one's full attention of what is happening at the present time is good but, what about the heart felt things that are not being expressed? Maybe their just thinking about that quota that has to be made. Could be just lack of having a positive feeling for themselves. Or worst problems at home.

We've all had some comment, feeling that were just making us uncomfortable as well as our client. This could be fatal if not curtailed in some healthy form.

"That outfit is weird" "I never act like that person" things we think need time for release but, when? Well, while your laughing at your client, friend, child etc... they maybe able to sense your inability to be genuine and friendly.

These things need to be released but, at a more appropriate time so that they blend in with what is happening. This way you have released in a evasive manner.

Empathy-Identification with and understanding of anther's situation, feelings, and motives. See Synonyms at pity.
2. The attribution of one's own feelings to an object.

a model/mentor A Lincolnesque leader is confident enough to be humble -- to not feel the need to bluster or dominate, but to be sufficiently sure of one's own judgment and self-worth to really listen and not be threatened by contrary advice."

If your in sales, service for a living and you feel you haven't reach your full potential or just need to improve your relationships. I recommend reading the book Listening with Empathy.

Inside you'll find some short tips on preparing your self for the client and to be genuine about your sales and have your clients come back or recommend you. And that's good business. This has been the most developed book on listening skills that I have found as yet. Look into the coaching site for more support www.listeningwithempathy.com

The Secrets of Americans Wealthy

It's really very basic they are disciplined and frugal. Lets get into two categories there are PAWs and there are UAWs. PAWs are builders of wealth they live on a budget and save their money and then invest it. Be it the company they work for or some other means of investment.

Wealth builders that live on a budget and cut coupons is not glamours but, they spend and average of 8 hours a month working on their budget. Sh oping for what they need as apposed to getting everything they want. We live in a consumption country where as we borrow to spend. There are also those who get EOC (economic outpatient care) that's money from their parents in the form of trusts, gifts, to keep the taxes lower for their children when the time comes for them to receive the sum. UAWs depend on living outside of their means.

High prosperity to spend and living above their means, they emphasize consumption. Buying a house that is a status figure or buying a luxury foreign car. Living from pay check to pay check but, these people are doctors, lawyers, and thousands of other categories. Why have so many adult children become UAWs.

It's much easier in America to earn a lot than it is to accumulate wealth.

Living in a home where the examples were taught about money, how money should be used and the discipline or non-discipline in the home.

For further reading "The Millionaire Next Door" has an eye opening view point on the millionaires. It's most beneficial for the upper-middle class and above. Here's some interesting points on YouTube.

I am not impressed with what people own. But I'm impressed with what they achieve. I'm proud to be a _____. Always strive to be the best in your field.... Don't chase money. If you are the best in your field, money will find you.

February 14th is Garden Cleaning

The days are quickly getting longer as ground hog day approaches we will soon know if we have six more weeks of winter days ahead. While the weather is still keeping plants dormant it is a good time to clean up.

Extra time a care for the up coming spring is very near I usually start a clean up on a warm day. The evening are still very cold but, day light sun is warming things up a bit.

It is also a good time to start thinking about some of the cold weather vegetables that do very well in the cooler weather to get in soon. Leafy greens, broccoli, spinach are good as well as cabbage plants.

I would like to wash my yard down with something to clean things up too a good reference is Jerry Baker for this job. In addition for this years project get our back-yard certified with the National Wildlife Federation as to be more Eco-friendly to my surrounding habitat.

The Big Tax-Saving Benefits of LLC Business Organizations

I like any business that has the opportunity to generate a neat million plus ongoing income. Who wouldn't want to have a piece of that action!

While you think you and your friend are the only partners in your business, you do have other silent but highly compensated partners who will share in your potential success. Let me introduce you to your new lifelong partner Uncle Sam!

One question that may make your decision easy is this: Do you want to pay your taxing partners once or twice on the same amount of profits every year? Most startup entrepreneurs would want to keep as much of their hard earned profits as possible by organizing as a limited liability company or "LLC", general partnership or "S corporation", rather than as a standard "C corporation."

Here's how it works. A limited liability company or LLC allows business profits to bypass traditional corporate taxes and pass through to the LLC's owners or "members." You would report your LLC-related income on your personal income tax return. Equally, you would be able to apply any startup LLC-related losses on your personal income tax return.

In contrast, business profits in a standard C corp are taxed by the federal government and again by most states. Then to the extent that you and your partner take out the profits in the form of dividends or bonuses, you have to pay Uncle Sam once again. That's brutal on the bank account!

Both LLC's and C corps provide owners with some limitations of liability. For example, if your business obtains debt without signing a personal guarantee, you and your friend would generally not be personally liability for missed payments. It's important to note that exceptions to liability limitations may exist in tort claims involving negligence or fraud.

Big concept entrepreneurs seeking angel or venture funding should just organize a C corp. Multiple rounds of venture funding often involve the issuance of several classes of common and preferred stock – which is easily handled in a C corp structure. Many sophisticated investors crinkle their noses at LLC's and won't invest until the structure is changed – at the entrepreneur's expense. Employee stock options are also easily administered in C corps.

Refresh Everything that makes Us Sustain Life

What would you do if you had 250,000 to spend to make a difference in Eco? Well, I was talking to a friend while she explained how this contest was going on. While the details were explained to me it got me thinking what would I do to make a refresh everything in our world? Well, for starters I would educate people on how to use the skills they have to make money. EchoingGreenMusic Cool background music

With the workshop as a starting point, personalize their business that would help the neighbor hood. Supporting the needs of the local area for services or products that the attendee's would offer. Keeping travel down to a minimum for employment that would help with fuel and pollution. Each person holds a great asset and with some education on how to put the skills acquired from either home or a job these people could bring in cash.

Bringing in cash would enable families to get more of what they need or want. Such as better food; healthy eating enables for the body, mind and emotions to work more efficiently. Hold workshops for parents to make better meals called Brain Food. With people having more productivity, self esteem the mind set indiviuals can deal in harmony with less stress, results in less health problems through out the community. Families could once again afford to go out and enjoy activities such as exercise, sports and recreational functions.

For the families who may have bigger problems and can't afford to pay for their house I would market to them and offer a free, information site so, residents could learn of their other options and their rights as home owners. Other wise make an offer with no obligation to do a short sale for them with no charge. I would also offer this to local attorneys, lenders to get involved benefit if it was a win, win situation for all involved. I would save them just as I did when I was a life guard and teach them how to avoid this dilemma. As an added bonus teach about eco green paints & other materials that would cut down costs of a home..

Offer classes on how to get out of debt and stay out of it with out going without all those things we feel that we need. I would also, talk with some of my mentors on how I could offer my services for the area.

I would also, like to get school districts involved and sign the petition for making our schools more eco friendly so, that our children, their health, and use less energy and cost less to run. With every thing that teachers could impliment in their class rooms this would be a profitable and motivating plan to supplement the current situation of many people. This plan would eventually branch out to the neighboring areas for further development.

Continue my research, and develop and implement stagiest for the betterment of man kind. We could also, raise money for our local groups (boy scouts, girl scouts, high school students and nursing home patrons) to get active in global awareness making reusable bags for shopping, planting trees, green friendly; cleaners, plant foods & weed killers. Hold a picnic at the local pool for those that contribute their efforts.

Use some of the funds made by the participants to plant new tree saplings in areas where mining or timbering has made huge impacts on our environment of our local areas. This would be within government regulations and the company's acceptance. This would be a great teaching tool as for children often learn through modeling.

Why I need a bedroom makeover....

How many times I have thought of making my room into something special for me. Actually, my son is expressing a need to change his room with pictures of friends. He has an interest in photography and has been building his portfolio. He started out with nature and has diversified to objects, people and places. It would be fun to make custom bedding for him from one of his photos. This is one of my favorite photos that he has taken.

The spread would personalize the room, but I would add the wall mural, like the one above from vision's collection, a few photo pillows and a couple of wall stickers to make his bedroom a workshop. Here is his present bedroom. He wouldn't let his school teacher see his room like this I can imagine what he say if he knew.

These products are from VisionBedding.com. You can use a picture from their gallery to make your bedding, custom pillows, blankets, throws, wall art, posters, wall murals, photo fabric, wall stickers, kids bedding, baby bedding and more! Take a look at my favorite design from their collection. Very Cool!

The best part is they are having a contest right now. The contest is running until Christmas and you can blog about why you need a bedroom makeover and win a bedroom makeover from VisionBedding.com.

Deflation of the Education

This weekend, the Empire State Building was lit in Cambridge blue in recognition of the 800th Anniversary.

We mortgage our house to get our kids in the best schools. Truth is that the very best schools and their higher costs don't tend to pay off. Education costs are getting so high that it is hard to justify them in the long run. It may be better to just put the costs of private college into a long-term investment fund for your kids. They could be millionaires by the peak of their careers just on the investment fund doubling every ten years.

Education can be delivered at a lower costs through a combination of online programs, in-classroom programs, and interships with companies.
Why do we need sprawling campuses with elaborate landscaping, buildings, libraries, etc.., in an Internet world? Why should students be restricted to teachers and experts in a local area when they can have video and interactive feedback from around the world from the best experts, peers, and blogs?

The Risk Factor

Understanding the risk factor entails research / due diligence in finding the variables. It's the unasked questions or the assumptions that create the greatest problems. Risk is only your failure to educate yourself around an opportunity. If you don't understand something don't buy it. It takes only one risk factor to cause a particle or total loss.

* Taking the present financial status and deciding if having substantial cash is good for the business or is it a sign of disaster.
* Future plans in development should also be considered. Educated yourself around an opportunity.
* Vocabulary is surrounding the risk conversation.

Each situation is different some may find that breaking even is not making your money work. Due diligence is so important to your decision making. Find experience people in your niche to get training, advice or involvement. Success comes with a team of people working together for a common goal.
